Studiomaster Pro costs $350, and is available through PC Colour Lab. We are happy to give demos of the software and its functionality at our lab. Simply call Paul or Peter at the lab, and we’ll arrange a time for you to come in.
To get started, you’ll need to install three different files: Studiomaster Pro 3.0 (the program), the PC Colour Lab Products CD (single- and multi-print templates for use with Studiomaster Pro), and the Album Templates CD (hundreds of 8x10, 10x10, 10x14 and 12x24 templates designed by PC Colour), which is available through PC Colour. The templates are designed for use with SMPro, so they do not work with any other software application. We’re always designing new templates; once you have purchased and installed SMPro, updates can be downloaded from our web site.
If you’re ready to install, call Peter or Paul at 213.680.7796 and we’ll walk you through it and provide you with an unlock code. Though we have instructions posted on our web site, the installation process can be complicated, so we find that customers have fewer problems when we assist via phone.< top >
Benefits of Studiomaster Pro
By setting up your order in SMPro, you eliminate the need for PC staff to touch your files. You crop and adjust, then “pack the order,” and provide it to us on disc. All we have to do is print the order. We can thus offer very attractive reprint pricing for customers who set up their orders in SM Pro, e.g., $1.95 for an 8x10, $3.50 for a 10x10, $5 for a 10x14, and $16 for a 12x24.
SMPro also makes design of flush-mount albums very easy. Simply import the images for your album, select the template(s) you wish to use, and then drag and drop. SMPro automatically resizes the images for you. SMPro offers a slide show function so you can preview the album for your clients before you print. < top >
How Studiomaster Pro works The SMPro workflow is simple:
• Import files
• Select desired single- or multi-print templates, or album templates
• Drag and drop
• Double-click on individual images to crop within the template, or adjust color/contrast/sharpness as necessary
• Drag templates to create desired print or album page order
• Preview using slide show functionality (for albums, if desired)
• Select “Pack Order”
• When order is “packed,” simply copy it to a CD and bring it in or mail it to us
Once you have your order pack ready, you can burn a CD and send it in by any traditional way you like, such as US Mail, Fedex, or you can send it in electronically by using FTP. For those who want to use FTP to submit orders, please contact Peter at peterc@pccolour.com to have your user name and password setup.< top >
Album Design with Studiomaster Pro The workflow listed above applies for reprint orders and album design, since SMPro works the same for both types of orders. While we offer hundreds of template styles, we recognize that many photographers already use album design software that they like. If you already have album design software that you use, you can easily import finished template files into a “single print” template in SMPro. The benefit to you? A greater variety of template choices, and – most importantly – lower prices on each album page.
Helpful Notes All prints and pages made using SMPro are bleed. If you require borders, set up your files in folders on a CD (see “Printing from Scans” in the “For Wedding Photographers” section of our web site). < top >
